The plan is leave La Rochelle, France weather permitting about December 30 and spend New Years Eve at sea. We will travel the coast of France, Spain and Portugal stopping occasionally as we find things we need to buy and just to rest a bit. Some where in Spain, maybe Cadiz, we drop Rocky off so he can go back to Austria to continue his studies in advance renewable energy systems. Then we do the hop to the Canaries Islands off of Morocco. That will be the last chance to stock up on fuel and food before the big ride across the Atlantic.
First stop from there will take about 30 days when we arrive at Grenada and tie up at Le Phare Bleu Boutique Hotel and Marina. www.lepharebleu.com
Mary Anne will join me at last in Grenada which is also home to Deb and Ben Unger. Deb is Mary Anne's cousin. We will stay in Grenada for a month or so with few local trips including an overnight sail to Trinidad. We will provision and further outfit the boat in Grenada before we depart our comfortable marina and head up the Grenadine islands with Ben and Deb.
From there on it is just island hopping from day to day as the urge moves us. Deb and Ben will depart and others will fly down to meet us as we move up the island chain toward the Bahamas. Whether we make the Bahamas or not (I love the out islands of the Bahamas) we will drift back to Grenada before hurricane season.
The last leg of the trip will be to Roadtown, British Virgin Islands. We will leave the boat with Conch Charters for the winter charter season some time before Thanksgiving 2018. www.conchcharters.com
