Bequia

Image
We returned to Bequia in the Grenadines.  It is one of our favorite harbors.  They pick up laundry from the boat and also bring fuel and water to the boat.  Whale Boner Bar is here.  They have real whale bone for the bar, bar stools and entrance arch. St Lucia and St. Vincent

We are revisiting St. Lucia and St. Vincent.  We had a great sail to each with near hull speed on both legs.  We caught one dolphin which we had for dinner and also a fish soup. Jazz band at the dock

We are at Bas de Fort Marina in Guadeloupe. David Finn just joined us.  We had a lovely dinner at one of the many French restaurants along the marina, followed to a butter/sugar/citron crepe, then back to the Knot Normal where a really good jazz band was preforming right in front of us.

Hi this is the new crew member David Fynn happy to be here with Barry, Mary Anne and Rocky and excited to join this section of Barry's Big Adventure.  Arrived yesterday on Air France - it is so good to fly again with an airline that treats you as a human being and even feeds you with wine at no additional charge!  Today we are off to Iles Des Saintes which should take about 3-3 1/2 hours. Knot Normal at the dock in Bas Du Fort Marina

Les Saintes

Image
We are a set of beautiful islands which are south of the main body of Guadeloupe.  The islands and Guadeloupe are considered a French State which is kind of neat in that France won the World Cup while we were in France! Pain de Sucre, a small piton with an unusual vertical strata.  It is at the entrance to Les Sainte harbor.

Good day fishing

Village of Deshaies The genakar up and pulling us at 7 knots Capt. Barry, Rocky and Kat We sailed from Antigua to Guadeloupe and dragged fishing lines on the way.  We caught two 26" bailer dolphins, one   42" gaffer dolphin and a 36" wahoo. We ended up in a sleepy fishing village called Port Louis and spent the night.  Then we had a downwind run with the genakar.  We were flying.  Tonight we are Deshaies, a cool little French village in Guadeloupe that we have stayed at before. Bailer dolphin and a wahoo The bull dolphin looks better than Rocky's face

We spent two days in Dickinson Bay where we found a cooking class at Nicole's table.  We chose "Cooking with Rum".  It was a good pick.  We also had a great rum tasting. Blow over

Image
We drank Pina Coladas at the bar in preparation for Beryl.   Beryl blew over last night as we slept soundly.  It rained a lot,  the wind was strong but not violent. We are still at the Jolly Harbor Marina but we are leaving today. Our new best friend.  He comes about every two hours and demands  more bread. Beryl update

Probability of the tropical storm hitting us is now 10% and the wind speed is 40 MPH.  We had 40 MPH wind crossing the Atlantic so no big deal.  Kat and Blake arrived last night, very tired but they got their second wind and had dinner with us.  We are going to sit the storm out in the marina tonight then go exploring Antigua by boat tomorrow.

Hurricane Beryl

We are in Antigua awaiting the arrival of Kat and Blake tonight.  We are also awaiting Beryl which is to arrive Sunday evening.  There is a 20% chance of it hitting us.  We are planning to be in a very sheltered marina, the Jolly Harbor Marina.
